JILL D. JOHNSON
Jill Johnson was selected and appointed to the Sylvania Township Board of Trustees in August 2024 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of John Crandall.
Jill was previously elected to the Board of Education for Sylvania Schools in November 2021. She was serving as Vice President. Jill has been a resident of Sylvania Township for over 34 years. She and her husband Dr. Larry Johnson, a licensed psychologist (retired), have three adult children and seven grandchildren.
Jill is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, and her areas of practice have included Family Practice, General Surgery Practice, and Oncology. She is recently retired from ProMedica, Hickman Cancer Center where she was the coordinator/developer of the Cancer Survivor Program and provided care to cancer survivor patients.
Jill received her Master of Science in Nursing from the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo (aka UTMC) in 2002.
Prior to that Jill received both a Master of Public Administration/Healthcare Administration degree, and a Bachelor of Education (non-teaching) degree majoring in Healthcare Supervision, from the University of Toledo. Jill began her nursing career after graduation from Genoa High School, obtaining a Registered Nurse degree from the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing.
Some of her earlier career experience included nursing leadership/management positions, school nursing, and Home Care Administration.
Jill and her husband attend and are active members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sylvania, Ohio. Jill serves as a Board Member of Sylvania Community Services, is a volunteer for the Victory Center, and was a recent Board member of Sylvania Area Family Services (SAFS).
She was nominated as Woman of the Year for the Northern Ohio Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in 2016.
Jill also was the 2018 ‘Ray of Hope’ awardee for Sylvania Area Family Services. Jill believes she will bring an additional perspective to the Board of Trustees with rational, evidence-based decision making. Her goal is to focus on maintaining the quality of life that our residents enjoy, while also exploring new opportunities to enhance services, support our local economy, and ensure that we are well prepared for the future.
